Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Case Study
Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Services consists of 20 strategically located fire and rescue stations within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The business went through a period of big change with the objective to improve their services offered to the local community. As part of this program, a refurbishment of 4 fire stations was undertaken, driven by the need to make sure that each fire and rescue station was equipped and crewed in order to offer a consistent and excellent response to emergency incidents.
The emergency services that these fire and rescue stations provide are extremely diverse including domestic/industrial fires, road traffic collisions, hazardous material incidents, water/rope rescue, flooding etc.
Storage Business Challenge
Well-designed lockers and storage areas at the fire stations are of vital importance as fast access to changing facilities and the right equipment can make an impact on the effective service delivery. Fire and rescue services needs were also unique, as due to different types of uniforms used by firemen, Leicestershire service required wider and deeper storage lockers than available in the market.
In addition, similar to the police forces, fire and rescue services work four shifts over 24 hours, and they often need to act fast to respond to emergency calls.
So when Leicestershire Fire & Rescue Services started looking at locker solutions, the speed of access to the locker, ease of use and the practical design were their key selection criteria.
